Whole wheat or rye bread is much healthier compared to white bread. GI is lower so your blood sugar level will not rise as quickly as white bread. It is more nutritious, containing minerals, fiber, vitamins your body needa and is filling help stop craving for longer period of time.
Rye flour breads sold in stores usually only have about 10-15% rye flour or even less. This homemade stone ground rye bread contains 33% rye bread, so this is more healthy than the ones sold in stores. From my experience, this is about the maximum rye flour than can be used to make the bread still rise and not be flattened.
Not only is it healthy and filling, this rye bread is really delicious!! It is extremely easy to make if you have a breadmaker! I've been baking all the breads for our family recently and this one taste the best so far!
Ingredients:
Stone ground rye flour 100g
Bread strong flour 200g
Sea salt 1 tsp
Raw beet sugar 2 tbsp
Water 180ml
Panettone mother 15g
How to make:
Put all ingredients in a bread machine and just let the machine do the job! I bake it in whole wheat mode with yeast.
